Eisenhower Park's Twin Rinks Ice Center

Dec 28

To satisfy the building's operating, aesthetic, and project schedule requirements, six insulated metal panel profiles (IMP) in varied colors were selected for Twin Rinks Ice Center at Eisenhower Park on Long Island. Two professional league-sized hockey rinks are housed in the 165,000-square-foot complex. IMPs assist in maintaining the optimum temperature of the ice rinks.

Metl-3-inch Span's 7.2 Insul-Rib IMPs in Regal Blue, 10,500 square feet of 3-inch CF42 Striated IMPs in Brite Red, and 5,100 square feet of 4-inch Thermal-Space 42 IMPs in Pewter were used on the project. Metl-Span also provided 18,500 square feet of 6-inch Pewter ThermalSpace 42 IMPs, 4,200 square feet of Silver CF24 IMPs, and 1,600 square feet of Silver and Regal Blue CFR-42 Roof panels.

The owner desired robust exterior and interior materials, according to Bruce Forster of Stuart Berger Construction Corp., the project's installer. He explains, "It has to be something to keep it dry on the inside because humidity kills ice." "There is a humidity control system, like in other rinks, but the insulated panels give higher efficiency."

One- and two-hour rated firewall components were needed for the project. According to Robert Andrus, president of Andrus Architecture, combining numerous Metl-Span systems was simple. He adds, "We had a nice color palette to chose from, and the erection time fit within our timeline."

At Eisenhower Park's Twin Rinks Ice Center, there are stadium seats, figure skating locker rooms, a pro shop, private party rooms, and a personal fitness and sports physical therapy training space.

On September 20th, Ice Dreams, an Olympic Ice Show featuring 2014 Olympic Bronze Medalist Jason Brown and ambitious local skaters, will perform at Twin Rinks Ice Center in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY.

"Twin Rinks is honored to host this figure skating competition, which will include some of the world's top skaters," stated Ron Friedman, owner of Twin Rinks. We invite everyone to come to our state-of-the-art facility at Nassau County's Eisenhower Park on September 20, 2014, to see these athletes up close in what will undoubtedly be a fun evening."

National Champions John Coughlin and Caydee Denney, 2014 Olympic and World alternate & Long Island native Samantha Cesario, 2014 Olympic Silver Medalist Dylan Moscovitch and International Competitor Liubov Ilyushechkina, US National Silver Medalists Alexa Scimeca and Chris Knierim, Two-Time Canadian National Medalists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, and The Skyliners will all be featured in Ice Dreams! More than 100 youth skaters from Nassau County and the surrounding region will get the opportunity to skate in the performance on the same rink as their Olympic idols.

"I'm excited to participate in Ice Dreams among Olympians and National Champions." "I hope that this exhibition will encourage a new generation of skaters to pursue their dreams," stated Olympic Bronze Medalist Brown.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano remarked, "We are happy to host this family-friendly ice performance at the new Twin Rinks in Eisenhower Park." "Ice Dreams is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for Olympic, World, and National skaters to interact with young skaters from our community." For our young skaters and our community, this amazing event promises to be entertaining, motivating, and unforgettable."
