With an impeccable sense of timing, a bright spark opted for this UK Wind Week.
Maybe they should have named it UK NO Wind Week!
https://gridwatch.co.uk/Wind
The UK's contribution from wind energy, which has been under an anticyclone, has been less than 1 GW as of yesterday, which is about 2% of total electricity generated. This situation is expected to continue for a few days.
As always, it is fossil fuels that have come to the rescue. Currently, gas provides 60% of the national electricity and even coal, which has been fired at 7%.
In fact, on the last day we had more electricity from coal than from wind.
Thirteen years ago the Labor government promised us that by this year wind could power every home. (I wonder where I've been hearing this lately!)

And we should run out of gas now because the supply was cut!

We are ruled by idiots.
