Fantasy Injury Updates: Michael Thomas, Allen Robinson, Dallas Goedert, more impacting Week 8 start 'em, sit 'em decisions

There are many passport catchers on the mend affecting fantasy football owners. The Saints have two notable players who sound like they're missing out on time, WRs Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders; Allen Robinson is a concussion protocol for the bears; and Dallas Goedert and Jamison Crowder are trying to come back from injuries they sidelined in the past few weeks. Fantasy owners will want the latest updates on each of these players as they make their key start and seat decisions in Week 8.

Does Michael Thomas play week 8?

Thomas (thigh) missed training for the Saints on Wednesday. At this point, he appears to be leaning in the wrong direction as he wants to get back on the field for the first time since Week 1, and fantasy owners must wonder when this string of injuries and suspensions will end.

If Thomas does not see any improvement in his training status on Thursday, it can be assumed that he will be out again. If so, Tre & # 39; Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway would see appreciation, but it's hard to know exactly what the Saints receiving the Corps will be like in Week 8.

Drew Brees could target Alvin Kamara and Jared Cook more often when the WRs are this messed up, though Smith would likely benefit most from the WRs if Thomas were out.

Does Allen Robinson play week 8?

After a headshot in the Bears' defeat by the Rams on Monday night, Robinson is in the NFL's concussion log, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Given that the bears are in a slightly shortened week, this will call his status into question for week 8.

It is likely that Robinson will not be able to return to training for the bears this week, and his status should be fully known by Friday at the latest. If Robinson couldn't play, Darnell Mooney would be the # 1 recipient for the bears and could be worth a fantasy flier. The rookie has opened deeply at times this year, but hasn't been able to bond with Nick Foles on those games. Mooney would be a risk in year-long fantasy leagues, but in DFS competitions he would be a solid game of values.

Does Dallas Goedert play week 8?

At the beginning of the season Goedert suffered an ankle injury that landed him in the IR. He had been entitled to come back from the list for a few weeks, but during that time there was radio silence over his injury. Then the Eagles officially announced on Tuesday that they had activated a 21-day exercise window for Goedert, which means they have designated him to return from the IR.

Goedert will train before the Eagles' 8th week game against the Cowboys, but his status for the game is unclear. The Eagles have a reunion in week 9, so it is possible that they will designate him to return now to power him up to the practice, give him another full week of rest, and then have him come back healthy in week 10.

Since he is technically still in IR, Goedert will not have any exercise status this week unless he is officially activated. He needs close watch, but when he's not playing Richard Rodgers gets another bang as the team's top TE and should be a top 10 option against a poor cowboy defense.

Does Emmanuel Sanders play week 8?

Sanders missed last week's game for Saints after being put on the COVID list after testing positive for the virus. It sounds like he'll be out in week 8 as well.

According to Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Advocate, Sanders spoke about his positive test for COVID and stated that he was "two games missing". So expect him to be out on Sunday.

If Sanders fails, Tre & # 39; Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway (if healthy) will be the top two recipients for the Saints, with Michael Thomas (thigh) likely to be absent as well. Feel free to take either Smith or Callaway off the waiver wire, but they are nothing more than flexible options against a tough bear defense.

Jamison Crowder Injury Update

TO UPDATE: Crowder was limited in practice on Thursday so he has a better chance of playing against the Chiefs.

Crowder (groin) was absent from the Jets' week 7 loss to the Bills and missed Wednesday's Jets practice with the injury. That's not a good sign for him, and he'll need to be upgraded to Limited by at least Friday to play against the Chiefs.

If Crowder can't leave, Denzel Mims will continue to see more targets for the Jets, but it's really hard to trust the members of the Jets Offense to produce. If you've got Crowder and need a potential backup plan, check out our WR Ranking for Week 8 to see some of the Flex options available.
