Fantasy Soccer Begin ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Week 14 lineup recommendation, matchups, DFS picks

Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Week 14 lineup advice, matchups, DFS picks

Many fantasy football owners missed their playoffs last week due to surprises from Russell Wilson, Justin Herbert, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Terry McLaurin, among others. Meanwhile, unexpected outbursts from borderline starters like Matthew Stafford, Cam Akers, and Cole Beasley could have brought many teams into the postseason. There are sure to be more sleepers and busts coming out of nowhere this week, and we're here to help you spot them with our fantasy starting week advice for week 14.

And if you didn't make your fantasy playoffs, don't worry – we haven't forgotten you. We also have DFS tips so you can make up for some of your imagination losses before the holiday season.

Fortunately, the goodbye is officially over and no games have (yet) been postponed due to COVID. There are a few other factors to consider – injuries, weather, short breaks for more teams, the 49ers who play "home games" in Arizona – but based on what we know right now, here's who can compete in fantasy leagues looks week.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who should start: Quarterbacks

Regular starts

Patrick Mahomes, Chefs (at MIA), Russell Wilson, Seahawks (against NYJ), Aaron Rodgers, Packers (at DET), Justin Herbert, Chargers (against ATL)

Stronger starts

Josh Allen, Bills (versus PIT). Normally we wouldn't feel the need to recommend everyone, but some owners may be concerned about his matchup with Pittsburgh. Do not be. Allen rolls too much to sit.

Lamar Jackson, Ravens (at CLE). He was supposed to start a big fantasy playoff push against a limited pass defense after his literal game against the Cowboys.

Tom Brady, privateer (against MIN). He will come back to his guns after parting a secondary player with massive holes.

Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers (at BUF). He and Josh Allen are going to be embroiled in a lovely, high-pass shootout.

Taysom Hill, Saint (at PHI). Here has become a great dual threat to another ongoing QB. The boom in Philadelphia will continue as long as Drew Brees (ribs) stays out.

Matthew Stafford, Lions (v UK). Stafford will get a ton stuck here, and packers can give up big digits in these scenarios.

Philip Rivers, Colts (at LV). You will be very successful if you let the ball run and give it comfortable, deep strokes.

DFS bargains

Ryan Tannehill, Titans (at JAX $ 6,700 at DraftKings, $ 7,900 at FanDuel). Tannehill is red hot again and the Titans should be able to do anything they want offensively with him and Derrick Henry in Jacksonville. It's not dirt cheap, but it will make a solid return on investment.

Jalen Hurts, Eagles (vs. NO, $ 5,100 at DraftKings, $ 6,600 at FanDuel). The rookie makes his first start via Carson Wentz, and we recall that despite his real-world struggles, Wentz set up back-end QB1 numbers in the fantasy. Hurts' running is fascinating and he has a strong arm that can get the ball into his wide field.

Deep streamers

Mitchell Trubisky, Bears (against HOU), Daniel Jones, Giants (when he comes back, against ARI).

Quarterback | Run back | Wide receiver | Narrow end | D / ST | Kicker

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who sits: Quarterbacks

Weaker starts

Kyler Murray, Cardinals (at NYG). He put together a decent production in a difficult situation at home against the Rams, but arguably this is just as difficult for the road in the elements.

Deshaun Watson, Texan (at CHI). His totals against the Colts are disappointed thanks to his late-lost fumble, and this feels like another potential dud against an angry bear's defense.

Matt Ryan, Falcons (at LAC). So you want to play it with Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, but the numbers and matchup don't make you feel very good about it.

Kirk Cousins, Vikings (at TB). He's facing a one-dimensional situation against a good pass-rushing team, and that's not a good sign that he's staying hot.

Derek Carr, Raiders (v IND). You never know what the hell you're going to get from him and this seems like a rebound game for the Colts defense.

Cam Newton, Patriots (at LAR). Not against this evil defense.

Jared Goff, Rams (versus NE). The Super Bowl 53 rematch feels like a QB unfriendly game.

Deep traps

Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins (against KC), Teddy Bridgewater, Panther (against DEN)

Quarterback | Run back | Wide receiver | Narrow end | D / ST | Kicker

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who should start: Running backs

Regular starts

Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (when he comes back, against DEN), Alvin Kamara, Saints (at PHI), Dalvin Cook, Vikings (at TB), Aaron Jones, Packers (at DET), Derrick Henry, Titans (at JAX), Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys (at CIN), James Robinson, JAX (against TEN), Josh Jacobs, Raiders (if he comes back, against IND), Nick Chubb, Browns (against BAL), Austin Ekeler, Chargers (against ATL), Raheem Mostert , 49er (against WAS), Chris Carson, Seahawks (against NYJ), JK Dobbins, Ravens (at CLE), Jonathan Taylor, Colts (at LV), Kenyan Drake, Cardinals (at NYG)

Stronger starts

Myles Gaskin, dolphins (versus KC). Against the Bengals, he immediately reverted to great volume and should be employed in several functions again.

Wayne Gallman, Giants (v ARI). Don't worry about Alfred Morris if Gallman is still introduced. He will return to the end zone this week.

Melvin Gordon, Broncos (at CAR). He had a vintage game against the Chiefs and Denver was supposed to keep hammering on the street.

D’Andre Swift, Lions (v UK). He's the type of back that troubles the Packers. So expect a solid game when he can return from a three week absence. Adrian Peterson also has some worth behind him.

Cam Akers, Rams (versus NE). The Patriots aren't as good at the run as you think, and the Rams are blocking at a high level to make sure the rookie stays productive.

Ito Smith, Falcons (at LAC). Here's a thought that Smith will get more run in a strong matchup against the worn-out Todd Gurley.

Giovani Bernard, Bengals (v DAL). Cincinnati hasn't done anything in the game lately, but Bernard should get decent volume in this hugely affordable matchup.

DFS bargains

Ronald Jones, Buccaneers (versus MIN, $ 6,100 at DraftKings, $ 6,200 at FanDuel). RoJo will get up after saying goodbye when the Bucs roll the Vikings and he plays more against Leonard Fournette.

David Montgomery, Bears (vs. HOU, $ 6,500 at DraftKings, $ 6,600 at FanDuel). Monty once again at another point against another weak defense at home.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who sits: Running Backs

Weaker starts

James Conner or Benny Snell Jr., Steelers (at BUF). The Steelers have trouble running and will again opt for many short passes against the Bills.

Kareem Hunt, Browns (v BAL). The Ravens don't give up many receptions at RBs, and Nick Chubb rolls. Hunt is very TD-dependent in this case.

Damien Harris, Patriot (at LAR). The Rams can cram him, and he'll be paying a little more attention again to Sony Michel and James White.

Miles Sanders, Eagles (against NO). It's hard to believe that its usage will suddenly increase, and the matchup is terrible.

Devin Singletary, Bills (versus PIT). The Bills, together with the Steelers, will lead the passable downfield to wideouts and tight ends.

David Johnson, Texan (at CHI). The Bears don't let much in passing, and Johnson hasn't been particularly effective on the spot.

Ty Johnson, Jets (at SEA). It might have a flex value based on volume but the matchup is tough, although the Seahawks have been leaking lately.

WEEK 14 DFS CASH LINEUPS: DraftKings | FanDuel

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who should start: Broad recipients

Regular starts

Davante Adams, Packers (at DET), DeAndre Hopkins, Cardinals (at NYG), Tyreek Hill, Chiefs (at MIA), Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, Falcons (at LAC), Michael Thomas, Saints (at PHI), Stefon Diggs , Bills (versus PIT), DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, Seahawks (versus NYJ). A.J. Brown, Titans (at JAX), Allen Robinson, Bears (against HOU), Keenan Allen, Chargers (against ATL), Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson, Vikings (against TB), Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Buccaneers (against) MIN) , Terry McLaurin, Washington (at SF), Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, Rams (against NE), Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster, Steelers (at BUF), Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb Cowboys (at) CIN) , DeVante Parker, Dolphins (against KC), Deebo Samuel, 49ers (against WAS), Brandin Cooks, Texans (at CHI), DJ Moore, Panthers (if he plays against DEN)

Stronger starts

Marvin Jones Jr., Lions (v UK). Jones got through a tough spot in Chicago and will get a good volume to burn another known division enemy.

Robby Anderson, Panthers (versus DEN). The panthers could be traced back to him at a broad range, and that means huge targets for Teddy Bridgewater.

Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers (versus WAS). Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel remain a dynamic duo.

Jarvis Landry, Browns (v BAL). It's scorching hot and perfectly healthy, so keep rolling with it.

Cole Beasley, Bills (versus PIT). He kills it in the slot and is busier without John Brown (Knuckles).

T.Y. Hilton and Michael Pittman, Colts (at LV). Both have great matchups out there again.

Jamison Crowder and Breshad Perriman, Jets (at SEA). You can be productive in garbage time.

Mike Williams, Chargers (versus ATL). He's doing a big play TD this week.

Tim Patrick, Broncos (at CAR). He builds on his association with Drew Lock.

DFS bargains

Corey Davis, Titans (at JAX $ 5,700 at DraftKings, $ 6,800 at FanDuel). Davis deals damage to Ryan Tannehill everywhere and continues to be undervalued.

Antonio Brown, Buccaneers (vs. MIN, USD 5,500 at DraftKings, USD 6,500 at FanDuel). Brown and the rest of the Bucs wideouts can go for the Vikings' overmatched defensive backs.

Collin Johnson, Jaguars (vs. LV, $ 3,600 at DraftKings, $ 5,100 at FanDuel). He's been Mike Glennon's best target for two weeks and should use his size and speed to play in garbage time.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who sits: Broad recipients

Weaker starts

DJ Chark, Jaguars (versus TEN). Chark and Mike Glennon don't feel it, so no.

Keke Coutee, Texan (at CHI). He's entering a much tougher place outside this week.

Marquise Brown, Ravens (at CLE). He's too dependent on trust.

Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, Bengals (v DAL). Even in a good place, you can't trust them because of the QB game.

Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard, Giants (v ARI). They collapsed on the offensive while defense and running game dominate.

Jerry Jeudy, Broncos (at CAR). No punch here behind Patrick.

Christian Kirk, Cardinals (at NYG). He disappeared again after this hot stretch.

Nelson Agholor, Raiders (v IND). No to him and Henry Ruggs III.

Sammy Watkins, Chiefs (at MIA). He no longer gets enough goals to think about.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who should start?

Regular starts

Travis Kelce, Chiefs (at MIA), Darren Waller, Raiders (v. IND), T.J. Hockenson, Lions (from GB), Mark Andrews, Ravens (when he comes back, at CLE), Robert Tonyan, Packers (at DET), Rob Gronkowski, Buccaneers (against MIN)

Stronger starts

Hunter Henry, Chargers (versus ATL). He should do well in a plus matchup that is much better than last week.

Eric Ebron, Steelers (at BUF). This is a great place on the street.

Mike Gesicki, Dolphins (v KC). He's doing things again and the Chiefs can struggle with his athleticism.

Noah Fant, Broncos (at CAR). The Panthers are better against wideouts inside.

Hayden Hurst, Falcons (at LAC). The chargers give a lot to the position.

Jordan Reed, 49ers (versus WAS). The story of the game of vengeance will actually play out here.

DFS bargains

Anthony Firkser, Titans (at JAX $ 5,100 at DraftKings, $ 3,600 at FanDuel). He's a breeze if the team were to be without Jonnu Smith (knee) again.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who sits: Tight ends

Weaker starts

Dallas Goedert, Eagles (versus NO). The matchup is tough and a QB change can limit its looks.

Evan Engram, Giants (v ARI). The cardinals are more vulnerable elsewhere.

Logan Thomas, Washington (at SF). The 49ers are still stingy against the position.

Dalton Schultz, Cowboys (at CIN). This is more of a wide receiver game.

Tyler Higbee, Rams (versus NE). Do not chase this TD from week 13.

Kyle Rudolph, Viking (at TB). After a zero he is difficult to trust and now faces a tough matchup.

Jared Cook, Saint (at PHI). Don't chase the random TD he scored against the hawks.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who to Start: Defense

Stronger starts

Seahawks (against NYJ), Rams (against NE), Saints (with PHI), Panthers (against DEN), Patriots (with LAR), Giants (against ARI), Titans (with JAX), Packers (with DET)), bears (against HOU), chiefs (at MIA)

DFS bargains

Buccaneers (vs. MIN, USD 2,900 at DraftKings, USD 4,100 at FanDuel). The Vikings are not going to do well even with Dalvin Cook and that opens up the possibility of a tee shot at Tampa Bay in the second half.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Who sits: Defense

Weaker starts

Steelers (with BUF), Ravens (with CLE), 49ers (against WAS), Colts (with LV), Cardinals (with NYG), Cowboys (with CIN), Bills (against PIT), Washington (with SF), Broncos ( at CAR)
