A former Notre Dame and NFL soccer player who went missing on Wednesday was found dead on Saturday, according to Action News Jacksonville. His mother confirmed his death with Ben Becker.

“Louis Nix’s mother confirmed to me that the former star of Raines High School and Notre Dame, who played in the NFL, has passed away,” said Becker.

The 29-year-old Nix was reported missing to the police by affected family members on Wednesday. He was last seen in his father’s gray 2014 Hyundai sedan at 10 a.m., authorities reported. After searching in vain for the man, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s office posted a cryptic tweet that revealed that nothing had been found – but gave no indication of his condition.

Nix’s former Notre Dame coach Brian Kelley took to Twitter to help the family find the former athlete.

“Let’s all do our best to get in touch with Louis Nix. Louis, let us know that you are fine or that you need your NOTRE DAME family and friends for support, ”he wrote.

Action News Jacksonville said the NFL defensive device was recovering from serious injuries sustained in an attempted robbery in Jacksonville.

According to Sports Reference, Nix played in the NFL from 2014 to 2017. He was drafted as a third-round draft pick and 83rd overall by The Houston Texans in 2014. He also played for the New York Giants.
