Biden relies on adherence to the Climate Crisis Creed and belief in MAGIC to change the US and the world
President Biden intends to cut U.S. carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions by 50% below their 2005 highs by 2030 and eliminate them (and fossil fuel consumption) by 2050, the former AOC chief of staff noted that it was at the GND not just about changing the American energy system. It’s about changing the whole economy.
This radical transformation is driven by three basic articles of belief, none of which are based on reality.
1) The man-made climate cataclysm crisis requires this GND. Team Biden believes that natural forces no longer play a role; Rising temperatures since the end of the Little Ice Age two centuries ago are solely due to the consumption of fossil fuels and CO2 emissions, as have all the extreme weather events of recent decades. and the 12-year absence of Category 3-5 hurricanes causing US landings (from Wilma in 2005 to Harvey in 2017) is irrelevant – as is the significant decline in US violent (F3-F5) tornadoes 1986-2020 compared to 1950-1985, and that for the first time in history, not a single violent twister hit the United States in 2018.
(For a full review of the reality, read books by Gregory Wrightstone, Marc Morano, Indur Goklany, Patrick Moore, Roy Spencer, Jennifer Marohasy, and Steven Koonin, Undersecretary for Science at Obama.)
1) American foreign policy must build a values-based world order that can address the common problems of humanity in an organized, collegial manner. Team Biden believes that such problems cannot be resolved by national governments acting alone. Hence, the world’s leaders have no choice but to work together. Walter Russell Means, the Wall Street Journal’s Global View columnist, calls this the Biden Doctrine.
However, China, India and many other countries do not see climate change as an existential threat – let alone a problem that justifies sacrificing their energy needs, economic growth, national security and geopolitical aspirations. You can pay lip service to the alleged “climate crisis”, “decarbonisation” and “green energy”. They know, however, that their future is inextricably linked to the abundant, reliable, and affordable energy that only oil, natural gas, and coal (plus hydro and nuclear) can provide. They will not “work” with executives who expect them to undermine their most important goals.
The second inherent failure of the Biden Doctrine is that GND policies inevitably undermine America’s industrial and military power, destroy jobs, and reduce US leverage in future negotiations. China already controls the raw material supply chains for wind turbines, solar panels, battery modules for electric vehicles and emergency power systems, as well as countless other technologies. Even our advanced military equipment is based on metals and minerals that are mined and / or processed by Chinese companies. GND guidelines would only make the situation worse.
3) Replacing the 80% of US energy that is now fossil fuel can be done quickly, easily, cheaply and environmentally – with clean, green, renewable, sustainable, carbon-free wind and solar technologies that create millions of good jobs. and save our planet from the destruction of the climate.
The basis for this supposed global transformation is that of the Biden administration Material procurement for global industrial change Program – better known by the acronym: MAGIC.
(This is not an official name. In fact, there is no such program and no evidence that Team Biden has any idea what it would take to convert America from fossil fuel to green energy. MAGIC simply provides the most accurate description of what they would expect to achieve this transformation.)
The raw material requirements for a GND economy are astronomical and numbing. To name just one example of hundreds, Team Biden plans to install 30,000 megawatts of wind turbines off the coast of the American Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific. Assuming 10,000 MW per coast, the total wind capacity on the Atlantic coast would barely cover three quarters of the summer peak electricity demand for New York City – assuming full power around the clock. The total of 30,000 MW would not meet the current peak electricity needs of New York State.
At 3.6 tons per megawatt, however, only this phase 1 offshore wind turbine would require 108,000 tons of copper. At 0.8% metal in an average ore worldwide, this would involve mining, crushing, and processing approximately 13,000,000 tons of ore after millions of tons of rock have been removed to get to the ore bodies!
14 MW turbines from Vesta, GE or Siemens-Gamesa stand 815 to 850 feet above 30 to 100 feet deep seawater (160 feet higher than the Washington Monument). Each blade is 350 feet long. Each turbine weighs 2,000 to 3,000 tons of metals, plastics and composites as well as solid concrete and reinforcement bases. In phase 1 alone, tens of millions of tons of material, billions of tons of ore and spoil will be produced.
Add materials for submarine electrical cables, onshore transmission lines, onshore wind turbines and solar panels, backup battery systems, electric vehicles, electric heating systems and other GND technologies to power the entire US tons of metals and minerals, trillions of tons of ores and mines, processing plants and factories all over the world.
Team Biden claims “renewable” energy is “carbon free”. This delusion is overcome by just looking at power generation after the turbines and panels are installed – ignoring how the raw materials are extracted and processed, and how the technologies are made … far from the US … fossil fuels at every step … under minimal to nonexistent laws for air and water pollution control, habitat and wildlife protection, land reclamation, child and slave labor, and workplace safety.
Unburdened by the constraints of the Paris Agreement, the emerging economies are happy to sell us “green, renewable” technologies that will raise electricity costs to multiple times today’s prices and put factories and industries out of business and unable to connect with China and India compete.
The power outage in Texas last winter will be the order of the day. Electricity generation from wind power decreased 93% – but natural gas generation increased 450% to make up the difference, despite pipelines failing to deliver enough fuel as lawmakers and regulators ordered pipeline compressors to compromise not gas from the grid, but from the gas Network operated pipelines. Under the GND, however, there will be no safeguarding of gas production – just freezing the unemployed in the dark.
Climate gazar and private jet setter John Kerry says unemployed oil and factory workers will get “good jobs” making solar panels. In reality, these jobs will be overseas. American workers will only assemble, install, maintain, repair, remove, recycle, and landfill imported green technologies. American families and businesses will be forced to rip out trillions of dollars in flawless gas stoves, ovens, stoves, water heaters, vehicles, and industrial systems – and spend trillions more to replace them with expensive new GND-approved equipment, backup batteries, and improved electrical systems to cope with the additional loads.
And this entire, greatly expanded, all-electric world is expected to function with unreliable, weather-dependent wind and solar power. (All of this in the US, where opinion polls have shown the average person is willing to pay a tiny $ 2 to $ 50 a year to reduce US dependence on fossil fuels and (supposedly) prevent a rise in global average temperatures. )
President Biden’s inability to understand these realities may be due to his decreased mental capacity. But it could also be the result that he rarely has to exercise his thoughts – in a political arena in which awakened, hard-green, climate-obsessed ideologues of the culture of cancellation do not allow discussion, questions or disagreements; when advisers, cabinet members, regulators, and lawmakers are of the same mind or too shy to speak up; and where schools, news and social media, big tech, government agencies, business leaders and even book publishers silence, ignore, punish and banish anyone who holds different views.
We can only hope that enough citizens put enough mind in our ruling classes to eradicate their belief in MAGIC, climate monsters, and other countries crazy enough to follow Mr Biden into economic suicide.
