Michelle Obama and LeBron James Accomplice For ‘When We All Vote Collectively’ Initiative

Two colossal forces have come together for a common cause.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama's "When We All Vote" and LeBron James "More Than A Vote" initiatives of Los Angeles Lakers have announced a new partnership to host the "When We All Vote Together Early Vote Weeks of Action Weeks" . This combined initiative will take place between October 18 and October 31 to get the early voting going.

From October 18 to October 31, the two organizations will provide information, transportation, food, music, personal protective equipment (PPE), and voter protection support for anyone near early voting locations in cities across the United States . Michelle Obama will start that too #VotingSquad Challenge with the co-chairs of When We All Vote to encourage more Americans to vote together early and safely.

“Millions of Americans have already cast their ballots, and with only 21 days to go until polling day, it's critical that you plan to vote early. It is now up to us to do everything in our power to prepare our friends and family to vote together early and safely, "said Michelle Obama, co-chair of When We All Vote, in a written statement. “We can't leave anyone behind. I am proud of the work We All Vote will work with More Than a Vote and our partners to help local Americans who will cast their ballots early.

If we all vote together, the activation weeks of the early voting weeks will include:

  • Atlanta, GA: October 24
  • Charlotte, NC: the date is approaching
  • Detroit, MI: October 24th
  • Los Angeles, California: October 24th
  • Milwaukee, WI: October 24th
  • Orlando, FL: October 24th
  • Philadelphia, PA: upcoming date
  • Virtual #CouchParty: October 23

All events are within walking distance of all early voting venues and include free food from partners like World Central Kitchen, DoorDash, and more. Music from local DJs; Appearances by celebrities and athletes; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); Support for voter protection through the Legal Committee for Civil Rights under the Law and the Electoral Protection Coalition. Lyft is offering discounted rides to help people get to the early voting sites.

Other partners for the campaign weeks are BET, Comedy Central, Johnson & Johnson, MTV, the National Urban League, the Isaiah project, Radio One, United Way Worldwide and the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge.

Everyone involved follows social distancing protocols, and the volunteers wear masks and gloves. If individuals do not have a mask, When We All Vote will provide one.
