Mark your calendar. On December 2nd, McDonald & # 39; s McRibs will launch in the US.
What's the big mcdeal you ask? The McRib (which is a boneless pork patty shaped like a miniature rib, barbecue sauce, onions, and pickles) is a cult classic among McDonald & # 39; s fans, a cultural phenomenon, and the subject of countless memes. This is the first time since 2012 that the restaurant chain has brought the sandwich nationwide.

The news was first posted by the McRibGate website, which records everything about McRib and shares stories about customers' greatest McRib moments. There the editors received an internal document that McDonald & # 39; s had sent to the franchisees regarding the imminent arrival of the McRib.

A story steeped in history
The McRib was first introduced in 1982, shortly after the Chicken McNugget made its debut. In contrast to the ubiquitous McNuggets, the McRib is a limited edition menu item. Every year, often in the fall, McDonald's announces the appearance of McRibs at selected franchises. For example, a quick look at the McRib Locator app reveals that you can now purchase one in Hamilton, Montana.
But this year is different. Beginning December 2nd, the McRib will be available in all 13,000+ McDonald & # 39; s franchises across the country.
Good morning to everyone who asked how I was doing last week
and to everyone else … McRib is back 2/12

Good news in a terrible year
The nationwide release this year comes according to CNBC, as McDonald’s sales in the US rose nearly 5 percent in the most recent quarter. On the stock exchange, McDonald’s shares are up 6 percent so far this year. McDonald & # 39; s hopes the craze for the McRib will fuel sales in a year that is challenging for the restaurant industry to say the least.

"There's nothing like the taste of McRib. For our customers, it's more than a delicious, cheeky moment … it's a season and it's taking the internet by storm," said Linda VanGosen, McDonald's vice president for Menu innovation, in a statement. "So this year we're proud to make McRib available to everyone across the country."
But McRib fans should hurry up. McDonald & # 39; s plans to take it off the menu on January 15th.
