It makes sense that the singer who is considered one of the best singers of a generation and the hip-hop artist who has arguably been crowned the best rapper of all time is anchored in the famous Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the same day.

According to The Associated Press, Whitney Houston and Christopher Wallace AKA The Notorious B.I.G. were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in a ceremony that aired on HBO over the weekend.

Just last month Houston made history as the first black artist to have three diamond-certified albums, while The Notorious B.I.G. took part in a little story of its own when Sotheby’s presented the first hip-hop auction, with the crown of B.I.G.

Houston was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Grammy Award-winning songwriter and singer Alicia Keys.

“We all know what a wonderful singer Whitney was, perhaps the greatest voice of all time. We all know how their unprecedented success has brought black women to the very top of the music industry's pantheon, ”said Keys. “We all know that their music will live forever – this music, this eternal voice is their last generous gift to us. And it will now be one of the brightest lights that has ever shone in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "

The man who made The Notorious B.I.G. Bad Boy Records had the honor of recording his friend.

“Nobody has come close to the way Biggie sounds, the way he raps, the frequency he hits. Tonight we're introducing the greatest rapper of all time, ”said Diddy.

According to the Rock & Roll Hall of FameThe 2020 nominees were: Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B. I. G., T. Rex and the Ahmet Ertegun Award winners were Jon Landau and Irving Azoff.
